Feller on FB marketplace posted some farm stuff for sale, but this grass board wasn’t posted. He didn’t know it was there. Tucked away behind some stuff. Family farm that started in 1937. His mother died not long ago and he decided it was time to get rid of some stuff.
I believe this to be an original board, possibly on mule drawn unit? I say that, because part number on board doesn’t turn up anything on my search. Thanks for any help

What is the part number? I can't read it in the picture.

Looks like 2475072R91
The 3rd and 4th numbers are the ones that are questionable. The 3rd one I will say is a 7. Having another 7 in there helps identifying it. The 4th number for me depends on how they did 3’s. Thinking it could possibly be a 3 but I’m thinking 5. Looks like I see the slightest hint of paint that would make it a 5

Re: Original Grass Board?
I can't make any sense of the number either. Add all these things together:
- The IH trademark wasn't used until about 1946.
- The Deering name was dropped in 1949.
- Most cutter bar parts had M prefix part numbers rather than R suffix. This included the grass board, MA1051 or MB1051, the grass board assembly MB1050, and the grass rod MC22089.
- Most R part numbers have 6 digits, with 7 pretty unusual.
My best guess, and it is a guess, is that number was for a package of replacement parts. It may have been something like the board plus the rod and maybe the attaching hardware all packaged together. In any case, it looks like it dates to the late 1940s.
This style was used on early Cub-22 mowers.

Re: Original Grass Board?
Thank you, Jim. I didn’t really need the board, because I will never use it. But I couldn’t see leaving it there, as it looked like it might be an original and I’ve never come across one before around here. It has been used some and is missing one of the bolts for the rod. But there was another board there that had seen its better days and I got it too, so I will have a matching bolt to use on the good one. I’ll just hang it on a wall for decoration. I use the later metal rod ones for my mowing. You’ve given me a ballpark. I do hope to come across that number in the future.
