'Of all the things I have lost, i miss my mind the most'...
Asking again for thoughts/help -
My foggy memory hints that the 826 gasser came with an oval muffler - does that ring true [or false] with anyone?
I am about to finish some extensive work on #9524 and would like to be appropriate with the muffler.
(What does a few more $ look like in the whole project?)
According to the IH records, it is one of 62 made and very few still running. Ours still is a working tractor, but will be a much prettier working tractor - for a while, at least.
Still my baby.
Best to all!
May God Continue to Bless America!

826 gasser muffler?
One of the few advantages of growing older is that I finally realized that I haven't made ALL the stupid mistakes! Yet!

Re: 826 gasser muffler?
My grandfather had an 806 gas when I was a kid and we have a 756 gas (now diesel) on the farm.
Only problem is I'm not quite old enough to have been there when they were new. They're '67 models and I'm a '74 model.
They always had round mufflers up until Dad found oval mufflers for the 756 and 856. Not sure where he found them, but he had been looking for them for a long time. They really look good on the tractors.
I just checked the parts book at partstore.caseih.com and it shows an oval muffler for the gas engine, 530587R1.
Looks like the Stanley IH-27 muffler is the one you want.
