Got my first Cadet!

I finally got a chance to mow a few hours with my new toy, a 1450. I really like this thing!

FYI and nit picky, "Cadet" was the term IH used for lawn tractors, while "Cub Cadet" was a term they used for garden tractors. What you have there is a Cub Cadet. You do have a nice 1450 there.

Don't worry, we knew what you were talking about. Call it what you want, but call that lawn: "DONE!"

Good looking 1450 and in great shape. Do you know if that's original paint or has someone restored it? I have an old 782 (a newer model than yours by a few years) with a 44C deck that still gives a great cut. Enjoy your new-to-you 1450.

Yes, I'm aware i have a Cub Cadet, but in my household the 1450 shall be known as the "Cadet" and my Farmall Cub as the cub.

I believe it was painted once before since there is yellow paint over the serial tag. Still need to figure out what the tag says so I can figure out what model year it is.

I'm very pleased with the way it cuts. I think my dad is a bit jealous. I was mowing with my wife, who was running dad's newer Deere and the 1450 was doing a better job. Both mowers had blades sharpened before starting.

This is not the type of serial # I expected.

2050066U532 618*

How do I read this thing?

The serial info I found only shows 6 digits, 530000 to 667400+

This does not make sense.

Use the 6 digits after the "U".

Looks like November of '74.

Do you know what all the preceding characters were for?

They are kind and code numbers, essentially they identify the model. No, I don't know all the codes. The "U" indicates country of origin.

Welcome to the world of the cub cadets. There a heavy duty little garden tractor.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
