strange starting issue, CC104

Postby ScottyD'sdad » Thu Oct 31, 2019 12:49 pm

I have a friend with a CC104. When he turns the key, the enging spins over, but doesn't fire. As soon as he releases the key, it starts. Defective ign switch? Weak coil?

Could be either one. A voltmeter connected to the hot side of the coil should quickly tell you which one to go after.

If it was working properly, and this just began to happen, I would lean towards the coil and/or a bad connection somewhere between the switch and the coil.

Ignition switch not putting power to the coil on start, but does on the run position.

Internal or external resistor on the coil? There’s two different systems on the coil, one if a full 12 volts for starting and the other is a lower amp 12 volts for running. Hotter spark for starting.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
