First mowing of the year

Postby Greenthumbfarms » Sat Apr 16, 2022 8:52 pm

We have gotten into mowing season here on Walnut Street. The old 1450 got the deck mounted for summer and went back to mowing. She seems to like that better than winter snow duty! Does a nice job for being a '74 with nearly 1300 hours
Now to get the Cub out at the farm tomorrow and make some noise...

Things are greening up in central Missouri. Folks have been mowing lawns for about 10 or so days.

At the acreage, got the 125 Cub Cadet started and ready for mowing. Put sealant in one front tire and had the wife mow around the shop. Only place I need mowed is inside the area fenced for pecan and fruit trees. Neighbor's cattle (lawn mowers) will keep the grass mowed for a while.

Do need to spray multi-floral rose. Darn stuff.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Did you willingly mow the grass, or did that city girl force you to do it? :)

I really dont know the life expectancy of those Kohlers (I assume it is a Kohler), but @1300 hours, I expect with good care, that it is just getting broken in!

1300 hours in 46 years only averages to 28.261 hours a year. Not many in my book!

I am the third owner on the machine. The original owners were a machine shop about an hour away. When they closed and sold the building to my Uncle (a mechanic) the mower came with it. He finally upgraded to a Zero turn about 6 years ago and sold this one to me. Runs like a top but being a late 70s CC the tranny has the typical leaks I never got around to fixing
