Clutch not working
I brought home a Cub Cadet pictured below and used it for about an hour and then parked. The next time I went to start it, the clutch would not engage and just grinder the gears. I’ve checked clutch rod linkage and it’s still intact and don’t know what the problem might be……..any thoughts would help. I have attached pictures below because there’s no model number on it for a reference. Thanks advance for your assistance.

Re: Clutch not working
The rod you are showing attaches to the pedal on the left side of the tractor is for clutch and brakes. The clutch is located directly behind the engine.
Use the model number for manuals. Operators, service, and parts manuals are on the internet. The model number is going to be one of the early Cub Cadets with a manual transmission.
Owning a 105 and a 125, the clutch is not hard to work on. Parts are available on the internet or your local Case IH dealership. Internet is much less expensive
Edit: Sorry. Cubs model number ending with a 5 are hydrostat. Also own two Cub Cadets with a manual transmission.

Re: Clutch not working
my yanmar clutch sticks like that sometimes. with engine running and transmission in neutral I stomp on the clutch pedal a bunch of times and quite often it frees it up. next time this happens I will rev the engine with pedal depressed and not depressed to get the clutch to spin real good and hopefully free up what had been sticking.

Re: Clutch not working
Thanks to both of you for helping. I have spent everal hours on the internet trying to figure out my model and year. None of the pictures match the look of mine and I’m guessing it is a Model 73 made in 1970 from the numbers I’m trying to cross reference. I’m attaching every number I can find on this cub cadet in hopes someone much smarter then I am can help me out so I can order the right clutch. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Re: Clutch not working
One more number on the side of the tractor…. I am really confused!
Thanks.
(I turn 70 on Sept 25 so maybe I should chalk it up to my age and being too old to figure this out!!!!)
Thanks.

Re: Clutch not working
In looking up the Kohler sn, it's a 1974 unless the engine was changed out....

Re: Clutch not working
It's not a 73, it's the first model, commonly called "Original", made 1961-1963. This, and other helpful information, was posted on your other thread. The engine, K161, is a 7hp.
Hang in there!
