Need some info on my original

Postby Scott » Wed May 24, 2006 8:24 pm

Getting some more done on my cadet so i need to know some more stuff about it.

Question 1- What is the size of the front axle?

Question 2- We pulled the steering wheel and there looks like there should be some kind of bushing or a bearing there. There is a pin that goes through the steering column but nothing is there.

Question 3- I know im thinking to ahead but I have some paint we bought at a cadet dealer to do my loboy would this paint be the same on the "original"?

I am not sure that you are talking about the 1961-1963 Cub Cadet called "Originals".

No idea what you mean by what size is the axel(front or back)? The front axel is a cast iron channel with 7/8" spindles and bushings(only on an Original).

These are the parts that are in the coloum at the top and are available plus the groment that goes in the console. The plastic piece will be different as it was changed. People have put 3/4" wheel bearing in there also.
IH-866105-R1 USE 941-3023 2.84
H-376254-R1 GROMMET 4.01
IH-376480-R1 USE 941-3023 2.84
723-3001 USE 723-3040 1.64

The correct paint is 901 Harvester White code PPG 8665
The correct paint is 483 Federal Yellow code PPG91607
The paint is available through Case IH dealers U Cub Cadet dealers and NAPA parts stores that mix paint.

Go here and you will find a Cub Cadet Paint color chart with suitable cross reference.

http://www.savillesequip.com/parts.asp is the parts site In Saville, NY where I got the prices and are good to deal with. If you have a good Cub Cadet dealer he would have those parts in stock and save you the shipping costs. There is a very good cub Cadet dealer in WI who ships world wide and very knowledge about Cub Cadets and has used parts for some NLA parts. Madson's Service Inc, St. Nazianz, WI. 920-773-2661.

Scotty, if you need new front "bushings" go to an old lawn tracotor dealer or something, I now have roller bearings in mine, got them purty cheap, and they are great, since i tried him first, and that's what i used...
