We cut about 1 1/2 foot off the low water crossing and dropped it into the stream. This photo shows most of the undercut repaired. Unrepaired portion at bottom of photo is not that bad - will get to later this summer.

Old culvert and how much of the road was undercut.

Old culvert was about 18" below the road. New culvert is 4" below road surface and will be easier to clean out.

Prior to the cleanup and concrete pour. Rubble is concrete slabs removed from the fixer upper house drive. We have about 20 cubic yards of concrete stashed on the acreage. Any not used on the low water crossing road helps fill a ditch.

Edit: Skid steer to pick up and move the concrete chunks. Tractor mounted backhoe to move the concrete into place.

Re: Low Water Crossing Repair
Well dog gone it. Last photo, right end of crossing is a large pile of dirt. We didn't get the pile of dirt moved.
3 and 1/2" rain in a couple of hours. Dirt pile is gone but a very large rock has plugged up the culvert inlet. Tractor with backhoe should clear the rock in a couple of minutes.
Old metal culvert had a 6" plastic culvert inside. Replaced the 6" with a 12" culvert.
Storm knocked down trees. Will need to remove a large branch from the acreage driveway and check the fence line.
Edit: Got the culvert opened up and the rocks removed. Looks like we had 2 1/2 to 3 feet of water over the low water crossing. Couple of large cement slabs, 400 to 600 lbs each, that were used to brace up concrete chunks for the pour were washed down stream 100 feet or so.
