Laid Up!

Postby PVF1799 » Wed Dec 13, 2023 3:36 pm

Hi all - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Just started back with the group again following several challenging years on the farm/family. Started by asking for help yet again on Rex'48 and you've all been so helpful. Regrettably, following a broken foot last year, that still hasn't healed despite a surgical internal fixation, I had to have my foot reconstructed last week. I've now got a a plate and 7 screws in 3 different locations. They've moved my heel over .75 inches and repositioned the ball of my foot and big toe.

I'm six weeks of non-weight bearing followed by 3 more month of very limited weight bearing after which 3 of the seven screws will be removed. Ol' Rex'48 is under cover waiting for the split to check that seal.

My son is starting on the 1930 Farmall Regular. I'll start a restoration project post in the appropriate forum for that.

Since I was last majorly active with the group, I lost both parents 11 months apart, COVID forced us into retirement and we've had 4 grandchildren. We're feeling quite blessed to be where we're at in life.

Our family farm, is now into it's 7th generation.

I'm looking for an app that will resize and convert .heic iPhone photos on my Chromebook so I can post more often. Open to suggestions.

Best wishes and many thanks to all, Ken

Merry Christmas, Ken. Best of luck with the recovery from foot surgery. Six weeks in a knee scooter will be frustrating, I’m sure.

Thanks Cecil - Right now I'm all about thinking of what I will do when I'm able to move again. I've still 2 weeks more of non weight bearing. First order of business is the rear seal of the Cub. The magneto for our 1930 regular has been fully rebuilt. It was pretty much a total loss except for a few parts that Mainely Mags was able to reuse. Dad wasn't real good about keeping things indoors. He tended to fill the barn with junk while the equipment sat outside.

Happy New Year - Ken

Lastly - I feel the valves on Rex'48 need to be adjusted. I doesn't have the power it did after we put it back together at your shop. I'll add to the todo list.
