Day at the farm
Tomorrow we start setting up for Kids Day at the Farm. It is an annual event sponsored by the University of Tennessee and the county Extension Office and held at the UT experimental station. They bus in all the 3rd graders from the county. They get on tractor pulled farm trailers and are taken around to all the exhibits finishing up with home made ice cream and a petting zoo. This year I'll be doing the row crop station. I enjoy doing this annual event as much as the kids do. These kids are the future of farming in our great country.

Re: Day at the farm
Great program. Not only does it encourage farm family children to stay in agriculture, it educates non-farm kids about where their food comes from and how it gets to their table. Thank you for your participation, Dan.

That's exactly what it is Don. These kids are so receptive to learn where that peanut butter and jelly sandwich came from it can be the highlight of their day. One of the more exciting things for them is seeing a live sonogram on a live pregnant cow. Never too young to learn if it's interesting.

Re: Day at the farm
We have a pretty good program at the Indiana State Fair. There is a mini farm where kids go through and learn every process of farming from tilling the fields to selling the grain and produce. They also have a great collection of old tractors and machinery which I love.
