green beans anyone.

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Thu Jun 19, 2014 9:47 pm

First picking of green beans for the summer, and this is a lot earlier than normal for this area, but wife picked 15 gallons, and will can them tomorrow. Also been getting a few yellow squash. We took a gamble and put our garden out early. It did frost after it was up, but not heavy enough to hurt anything. Looks like it may have been a good idea, starting to get pretty dry here. Haven't had much rain all spring.

That's great. You all will probably have your canning done by the 4th of July at this rate.

Ours are not yet in bloom but won't be long. We got off to a late start and beans are not my highest priority. I prefer canned beans to fresh and grow more wax beans than green. Radishes (and rhubarb) are the only thing we have in the garden right now but things are looking good. Vern
