Re: New member gear shifter problem
Hopefully, it is just a missing pin that needs to be replaced. Post again (like a reply to this post) and you will be able to see the manuals link in the upper right corner of the forum Index page. Then find the manual for a 154 and you will be able to see the assembly.

Re: New member gear shifter problem
Hi JJ wolf,
I have a '74 154, that I got a couple months ago. It was left in a field where it broke down 3 years ago, and the shifter on the floor like yours. In the last week I got the motor tuned up and running (needs carb kit but it runs!). And yesterday I opened the trans and found that the shifter broke of just inside the cup/seal. I'm looking for a new one cause the return line is also cracked but I have it a quick weld (I don't expect it to hold to long) and it's working great! I actually got it going and cut a good bit of great in 15 minutes.
I took videos of all of it and I'm going to post the YouTube as a small serious. It's just a matter of finding the time.
Don't be afraid to open it up. If you take your time it's not bad, and should be cheap to have welled if you can't. Let me know if you have any questions
