watched your video also. I think a little effort toward getting the 185 running with a little luck would be easier than swapping all those parts.

Wagonmaster. You said it and I was thinking the same. The 185 tractor is similar to an upgraded 154 but a stronger frame. Am I wrong? There were significant benefits to be able to replace many parts without splitting the tractor. The 184 is superior in so many ways but the last one I saw, was used around condominiums. That is where dozens lawns mowed in one day. They were SO good that .. I was enamored about the Lo-boy and it was red. There was one fellow who could speak with me. He said they are great but they were all going to ZT. The crew were all smiles and we talked about a few things. In the end, they did lube certain areas.
The deal is that they worked So well that they flat wore them out. It was nothing. Another tractor, a zero turn saves time.
The 154 was put away long before that.

Darn. I lost it there but still.. Look for heavier frame sections and maybe that donor was more than the parts thought needed.

I had no idea the fame may be better! As soon as the grass becomes dormant, I will roll it into the shop and take a better look at it. For now, its just sitting on a trailer outside waiting.

The 154 and the 185 are the same with the 185 having a few more horse power.

Yes this is so good but that frame already had 3 pt and fel. on it. This is important info as to how it was enforced or where it cracked. The 154/ 185 depend upon that frame being straight.
edit: I see it wasn't equipped with a fel. Still there was other bracing and perhaps we see it or the reason it was a donor.

Years ago I picked up from hamiltonbobscubs cubs a complete creeper setup and dual brake pedal setup for my 154 project. My number 3 154 has a creeper already and it’s awesome I wanted one for my number two 154. My number 1 154 just mows.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

That 185 looks to be in serviceable condition. Might want to find out what is wrong with the 185 and get it going this winter.

Re: Adding a 3 point and a creeper gear to a 154?
Funny Story, for kicks and giggles over the weekend I thought I'd see if the engine would fire up. I was able to get it to turn over but no spark, so I decided to take a look at the points, when I removed the distributor cap, I found it was full of ants, still alive, and falling onto the shop floor. After using half a can of ant killer (starting fluid) I ended up breaking a spark plug wire. The creeper feels sloppy, and the hydraulics are stuck in the retracted position, shoving the lever forward does nothing. Will be fun to see if I can make it live again.

IIRC, the hydraulics won't move if the engine isn't running, they are also gravity driven, so you would weight on the 3pt. to lower it.
EDIT: I see you are in Delaware county also... Greetings from Sunbury!

I just assumed the 3 point was like the deck, it would lower with the engine not running, I even stood on it and tried to lower it. I grew up near Sunbury, Condit Rd / 605 area, on Meredith St. Road.

Neither the rockshaft nor the 3-point should move without the engine running.

The 3pt should fall when the lever I moved if the selector is in the 3pt mode. The rocker shaft needs weight on it to go down.
