I bought my 1971 154 off of a guy in the neighborhood back in 2015. Needed the rear engine seal replaced. Other than that and a few other typical things, carb rebuild, complete tune-up, replace some wiring, etc, it has been a good tractor. I had to rebuild the PTO assembly last fall and that is a pain in the tail and wallet. At a recent neighborhood picnic, I asked the previous owner ( he was the 2nd owner and had it for almost 30 years ) when the tractor was overhauled. As far as he knows, it has never been overhauled or had any other repairs. When I had the engine out of the frame to do the rear seal, it looked like it still had original paint on some major engine parts. I use it to mow about 4 acres each week so it gets about 50 - 60 hours of use each mowing season and it may use a quart of oil in that time frame. No smoke or engine noises. Amazing for a 48 year old tractor.

Glad you are giving it the care it needs. Possible? Absolutely! Not sure owners of newly purchased equipment will be saying the same 48 years from now.
