ive never done this before. all the wires on my 154 project crumble to dust when I touch them so I've got my spools of different colored wire and since everything in the control panel are rusted beyond help new parts on the way along with new steering wheel since old one is so deteriorated and rusted to shaft I'm going to cut it off to get at all the wires and stuff in control panel. may as well put new brushes in generator and clean it inside and out while I'm at it. at a second hand shop I picked up 4 old new stock voltage regulators for $20 and one is marked 12v neg ground.
so ive been reading that the generator will need to be polarized after everything is reinstalled. there seem to be two different procedures for polarizing generators. can someone walk me through the correct procedure for the generator in the 154 cub

Re: polarizing generator
No need to polarize. Cranking the engine over will polarize the voltage regulator.
It's a 15 amp voltage regulator for the 154. I'm currently using a 16 amp Chevy voltage regulator because the 15 amp regulator is expensive and very hard to find,
