Hi all!! Update on the project.... wet compression yielded 120, 90, 110, and 115. Allowed the gauge to "sit" for 30 sec prior to releasing. Everybody was solid except for #2 (90psi); which slowly bled down. I think #2 will come back fine with some running time and seafoam. Endednup putting new points, c9ndenser, and cap to get fire. Old condenser was shorted, Had no fire till I discon it... Strangely enough; new points were defective!!! They were the CS1600. Not mentioning source (easily figured out). If they made 1 bad one then they got a run of em!! Not downing em in any way. Everyone has QC probs these days!! They were open on the breaker side between between the contact and the spring.
Anyway she lit right up!!! Next up is stuck governor, rebuild the carb, dive into radiator/cooling. Getting quite the parts. List together. I'm gonna have to rebuild, adjust, and love on every system on this thing!! I expected it though, for $200 it's going to b a project!!
Thanks All!!!
PS.... TC lever is stuck hard..... valve frozen????

Hopefully a good few sprays of penetrating oil on the governor rockshaft and the throttle cable end will loosen up the governor connections.
TC lever is hopefully just been pulled on too hard. Remove the side covers and have a look at it.

Outdoors4evr,
Got the governor freed up. No play in the rockshaft, and governor seems to be pretty responsive when running. The throttle cable is either broken or has popped off at the control end of things..... ill deal with that when I go through the carb (or buy Amazon one). Can u give me any more insight on the stuck TC valve???
Thanks!!!
John

Just first check to make sure that the pivot point of the handle isn't hitting the steering column (beneath the dash).
If the handle isn't bound up on the steering column, I think I'd start by lubricating the valve. It is supposed to have oil inside. If it is rusty, then perhaps the transmission oil has water or condensation in it??? (pretty common)

Yeah I haven't made it around to the hydraulics yet.. My biggest fear given its propensity to collect moisture; is that I'll have a rust and corrosion filled swamp on my hands!!! Oh well.......
Thx for the info!!

Since the transmission doubles as the hydraulic oil reservoir (it does take a lot of fluid to fill) I would suggest using the Hytran fluid for its moisture absorbing capabilities. The oil changes color to a light milkshake color over time due to the condensation or other water intrusion incurred due to sitting outdoors. At least with Hytran doesn't freeze up in the winter due to a large separated blob of ice in the bottom of the transmission.
Just don't forget to replace the hydraulic oil filter when replacing your fluid.

What's your thoughts on flushing the system out?? I've seen some say kerosene.... I'm not too big on that idea. How about diesel fuel?? Lower flash point and higher lubricitity?? Or my thought was using atf (high detergent)..
Prob best bet would b a couple of services with the Hytran... What ya think????

There's your answer.
Using kerosene, Diesel, etc. is okay for a transmission that is just a transmission. You don't want those things contaminating your hydraulics.

Hi Jim!!! Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I did get the
TC handle moving somewhat today!! Sprayed her down with some heat riser spray and whacked it with a hammer...
Few days and I'll have full movement.
Thanks for the help/info sir!!
