184 Front main seal questions

The front main seal on my 184 is leaking pretty badly and needs replaced. Anyone have advice on doing the job? I've read the front pulley can be a bear to get off, but I'm pretty sure I can handle that easily. Does the front main seal use the same seal as the rear main? Hamilton Bob's site updated recently and doesn't seem to list parts as accurately as it did before. I don't like to be unsure when I order parts.

You can check the How To forum viewforum.php?f=141 for some ideas. There's several posts there. Also check the wear on the crank, you might need a wear sleeve as well as the seal to stop the leak. JMHO Stan

In my experience, the front pulleys on numbered series machines are considerably easier to get off that the offset counterparts.
There is a bolt and washer holding the pulley to the crank, once removed the pulley will most likely slide off with relative ease.
The front seal is not the same as the rear seal.
