Cub Lowboy Oil
Hi Im new to this forum and new to tractors. I recently purchased a Cub Lowboy 154 and need to change the oil. What type of oil should I use?

If the temp in your area gets below 32 degrees in winter and U R going to use it then. USE SAE 20 Weight, if area is above 42 to 80 + use Straight SAE 30 Weight of a good standard Name Brand Oil. You will be fine. Don't forget change the Filter at each oil change too. Have a good running Cub...and Enjoy It.......

I mow lawn with mine and use high quality SAE 30.

New tractor purchase, I suggest the first oil be a straight weight detergent, either 20 or 30. That is to see if the engine burns a lot of oil.
If you have other machinery that you change their oil, use the same oil.
Personally I use a generic, store named, 20W50, purchased by the case, in all my machines. Reason I use one brand and weight is that it's simpler to have just one oil on hand.

I use 20 w - 50 diesel oil in everything here! lo-boys, lawnmowers, trucks, car, 504, 340, etc. and have forever. summer and winter.
