what's the difference between a 154 and a 185
I've been working on what I though was a 154, but after doing some searching here, I'm not positive it is a 154.
To start off with the ID plate has been sanded so I cant tell what it used to be. It also has a zenith carb and from the paint marking, it could be original. And lastly, the air cleaner, or lack of the top half, looks like it's different from some of the 154 pictures I've been able to locate.
I can post some pics if it would help.
Thanks

Dennis - That's pretty funny. I currently have one have one of each of the air cleaner assemblies, I've been trying to figure out which one I want to use on my 154. Mine's later 1974, so I should use the other style, except the darn air filters are $20's more.

Jim - I thought it had been wiped out pretty well, but I went back out and used the super macro on the camera and was able to see some numbers stamped near the bottom of the plate. The ones I could make out are 015563.
Lance - $20 more than what ! Either way, I'm gonna need to fix the coffee can thing, so I'm looing for a replacement. I'm not really concerned if it is correct or not.
Trent - - That's the humor that my pop would bring. Thanks!
I'll have some pictures available as soon as the server gets it's act together and allows FTP again.
Thanks.

That makes sense as a serial number. The 154 serial numbers for 1970 were 15502 - 20331. 15563 would be one of the very earliest 1970 tractors. A casting date from 10/69 would be about right.
