How to overhaul clutch on 154

Postby Terry-154 » Tue Jul 14, 2015 6:43 am

This is a 1972 Cub with frame (s/n25214) - NOT tube model.
I am in the process of pulling the clutch and don't know what the shop manual means. "Remove Tunnel cover" (OK). "Remove bolt from clutch shaft coupling" (OK) "AND SLIDE AHEAD (Problem) :help: .

What slides?? I tried tapping shaft forward and nothing moved. Should I disconnect the hub on the drive coupler (flywheel)?

Your pto belts are on the engine flywheel.right? Remove the four bolts in the forward coupling on the engine flywheel index the driveshaft 1/4 turn push it forward into the cavity in the flywheel.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

I will try removing the 4 bolts, but I don't think the shaft will slide - The shaft appears bigger than the spline into the flywheel.

Big Bill, I see what you mean. The Manual did not mention removing the 4 bolts and giving 1/4 turn. I have removed 3 of the 4 bolts and am having trouble with the 4th - rounded bolt head.

Thanks for information.
