She has now banned any gathering of more than 250 people through April 6. That includes church services.

Apparently the point of banning large events is to slow the spread so not too many get sick at once and overwhelm the health care system.

I still suspect it's over done. If we didn't have a sick dog to take care of we'd probably go on a super cheap cruise.

I guess not. Looks like the cruise lines are shutting down.

Ive been reading all the posts re the virus. Exactly the same thing is happening here, schools closed, all church services cancelled, attendance at funerals limited to a maximum of 100, people are panic buying, shops and supermarkets are stretched to the limits. Shelves being cleared of stock, and a general malaise of anxiety is gripping the country. Front line health care workers are at high risk yet they continue even though some have contracted the virus and have to be isolated. The elderly are most at risk of severe complications, which means most of our members of the forum so stay safe everyone.

Yep, it's a pretty lousy situation; one that will affect us all in one way or another regardless of whether or not we get sick. Hopefully we all come away from this better prepared for the next emergency, be it another pandemic outbreak, destructive weather, war, etc.

There's already been a great outpouring of support in my small town with people offering to provide free daycare for families who are in a bind with school being closed, those offering meals to kids who probably don't have enough at home, and so-on. It's that kind of spirit that makes us great. Like the great Canadian comedian, Red Green, likes to say, "Remember, we're all in this together. I'm pullin' for ya." This all works a lot better if we look out for one another.

I'm glad I did and can comfortably go the next 3 or 4 weeks without stepping foot off my property, should I choose to hunker down.

I am taking my kids to the library after school today to load up on books as it's going to be a long three weeks at home all day.

Hope you made it to the library! I just received an email from ours saying they are closed until further notice. I happen to read and listen to books on my phone with an App called OverDrive, that can link me to my library for free downloaded books and videos. I can "return" and "check them out" from anywhere in the world where I have internet! I love it!!

8 AM grocery shopping, Linn, Mo., which is almost in the middle of nowhere. Checking out, went back to the toilet tissue aisle. Bare. Store owner had the aisle filled with boxes to restock the shelves. Ask the owner if he had sold all the tissue on the shelves. He just pointed at the bare shelves.

Of interest, none of the other grocery aisles were empty, fully stocked. So why toilet paper? If I were stocking up for a long duration, it would be canned goods.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Working in public Safety this issue has been front and center for the last several months. We have been following the CDC guidelines since the the threat of the virus getting to the US. Since we are in a college town with international students from the effected international countries. The public safety communities have been watching the progression. We are treating this as a secondary flu outbreak Protecting our first responders accordingly.

Try not to freak out. follow the CDC guidelines,Shut off your social media devices and get some rest

A little level-headedness and common sense would be good for us all. Good advice, Steve.

I heard it somewhere that despite all our best efforts, 70% of the population in this country will get the virus. I guess the toliet paper is not going to work. :(

This is what it is like at my store and its a one relight town. Lucky I usually always have a half a beef and half a hog in the freezer.
