I don't know if anyone is into the older chevy trucks around here, but seeing as I just purcheased the rest of my project I went to look if there was a forum for such a thing and I didn't find one so I made one, I know it will start slow but perhaps it will grow, heres a link if anyone is interested, http://chevytrucks.forumcircle.com/inde ... ef19a0ebe1

I have a 53 advance design with deluxe cab. I have most all my parts just need to rebuild the engine, finish the rear suspension, and put the truck back together. I hope to have her done in the next couple of years.

I bought an old tractor all dusty and worn,
knew nothing about her just the year she was born
I washed her and greased her and painted her red
Now she lives happily right here in my shed.

Personally I really would like to have a 1954 Chevy 1 to 3 ton stake bed truck.. or a real nice Apache 7 window pickup (is that what they are called),, I like them always have.. but a 54 would be top notch and would provide me with a platform for my Cubs and Implements.. a 1 ton with a 5th wheel would be absolutely perfect...
But.. I gotta win the Lotto 649 for that to happen..

You can sign up for the Oletruck mailing list , it's a forum like the Cub forum. I was on it for a couple of years mainly just reading , asked a some questions but just did a lot of reading. Learned quite a bit but just like my Cub there not in the shape I'd like them to be in yet. Time and money. Lots of help and information from guys who love old Chevy's.There's a forum out there for just about anything but I haven't run across any as good as this one.

Here's the '48 my departed son David and I built up some years ago. Ohio winters had caused most of the bottom foot to disappear so we fabricated it from heavy sheet metal. We were happy with the way it turned out. Both David and the truck are gone now.

This is my 1954 3800 series (1 ton) that I've known almost all my life and, unlike about everything I own, this is one thing that it will take a LOT of money for me to part with. Not that it's worth much, because it's not. It's only worth something to me and probably only me.
I have the whole story here at:
http://www.stovebolt.com/gallery/niekam ... 954_01.htm
It has the original 235 inline 6 with dual PTOs on the transmission powering a Heil 3,000 pound hydraulic pump for the twin hoist to lift the steel Knaphiede grain bed that was put on the frame in 1954. The old thing runs and drives like a dream, runs great at 60 MPH but not much more and has been one of the very best vehicles I have ever owned as far as NOT having any problems. that old 6 banger will start in any weather, no matter how long it's been sitting. Someday I will restore it back to like it was new and go back to the original color. The only thing I despise about it is the vacumn operated windshield wipers, we all know how they can be,
Just this past Friday I hauled 30 tons of sand to fill an old systern, (not all at once, of course) and I sorta had it overloaded by a few ton and blew one of the 50 year old rear duals You know WET sand is heavier than it looks, SO I guess I will have to order a couple more new tires. The price these old odd ball size tires cost, I can only afford to put on a couple at a time.
However I still LOVE my old stovebolt.

Teh vehicle I took my drivers test in (1964) and did my first driving on the highway in was a 51 chevy PU short bed stepside. 216 engine with a 3 speed. Money was kind of tight, and that was our only vehicle for several years. Like everyone, I have fond memeories of the vehicle I learned to drive on, even though it was badly worn out. It has been gone many years though, it was accidntly left out of gear and a cow pushed it off a bluff.
