The Miracles of God, Modern Medicine & Science

Postby Into Tractors » Wed Sep 26, 2007 7:02 am

Have held off mentioning any of this ever, as it has been a struggle for my niece and family. But I thought I might share the info and the story, as there may be someone else out there that may be going thru a similar thing or; at some point (and I hope is doesn't happen to any of you) may have to face a similar problem.

In 2004 our niece had just given birth to twin boys, she was 33 at the time. Shortly after that, she noticed a "lump" in her face/jaw area. It turned out to be a rare bone cancer, rare as it is normally seen in small children and not adults.

Anyway, Amie had the normal stuff done, and it ended with evasive surgery which pretty much changed her entire face. They had to remove most of the left jaw, and a lot of the face section especially around the eye socket.

It pretty much changed her appearance to where folks would just stare at her due to her face looking the way it did. It not only effected how she looked, but her speech has been slurred ever since, and eating & drinking normally was just not feasible.

Now the good news,,,,,we were notified just recently that the "BEST" surgeon around was availible and the reconsturctive surgery was performed yesterday up in Cleaveland. Everything went well, they removed bone and tissue material from her leg and rebuilt her face area. Apparently they did not have to do a skin graft after all, which will make her recovery quickers and her apperance will even look better.

It's a huge load off our minds as we have been hoping and praying for a good outcome for a long time now.

You can't imagine how excited and relieved we are to know that the surgery went well yesterday, but that our niece should appear to look like her young and beautiful self once again.

The marvels of modern medicine and science just baffle me, hard to believe they are able to do these type of operations.

Mike, that is great news. My wife and I were talking yesterday of advances in medicine during the last half century. During the 1950's, one of my wife's neighbors developed multiple sclerosis. She spent the remainder of her life in a wheel chair. Our daughter developed MS about 18 months ago. She spent several months in a wheel chair but due to modern medicines for the disease she is now walking again. In about a week, she will begin treatment with a different medicine and she is very excited about that as it is even more promising than the one which allowed her to walk again. I should also mention the many, many prayers from a lot of people and we feel that both prayers and medicine contributed to her improvement. Dan

Mike:

What a wonderful testament to God and HIS hands. Each of these doctors and scientists who make these discoveries are the primary human tools that God gives us to help make all of our lives easier, less painful and longer. I know this for a fact -- modern medicines have saved me for the last 15 years, and many, many wonderful people that I know. I am happy that your niece has been added to HIS list. (+)

Wonderful News

Postby Baydog » Wed Sep 26, 2007 9:57 pm

Thanks for sharing these wonderful stories. As I spend time reading differant postings on this web site I am made aware how decent so many of these tractor lovers really are. As we watch the news and see so many terrible things people do to each other it is easy to forget that our country is really made up by the majority of people who our decent GOD loving souls. For this I am thankful and thanks for taking the time to share these wonderful stories. Don

I'm so glad for her and wish her all the best this world has to offer. My sister in TN had surgery in her mouth for cancer and she was parinoid about her looks changing but by the grace of God she is alive and really looks good. Just a little different. Thank God for modern medicine. The best to you all. grump

Mike,
I enjoy hearing the good news. It's amazing the things our Creator can accomplish. We often ask why our God would allow bad things to happen, bad things do happen to good people. But God in His infinite wisdom gives us the free will in reacting to the terrible things that happen. Undoubtedly, it makes one stronger. It's been my experiences that, unfortunately, I couldn't fully understand how precious the gift of life is until I suffered the tragedies that sometime occur.
God bless your niece and I pray for a speedy recovery.
