Broad band has been a hot topic with our electric co-op for a couple years now. It's a tough issue with no real good solution. The best they can come up with is a line of sight deal but the providers say they can't get to our area, for installation, for 4-5 years. They are currently installing in areas of Indiana. I'll settle for my jetpack, for now.

Right now the fastest service I can get in my area is 1.5 Mb, but at the distance I live from the equipment cabinet I only get a max of 1mb download and 200kb upload. Note the lower case b designates bitts, bytes would be shown by a B which is 8 bitts. Luckily they are in the process of upgrading our systems, and soon the slowest speed will be 10Mbs. :{_}:

Here is the broadband service I have:

I don't know if they're in your area or not, but they serve mostly south east of you. For unlimited, it's quite expensive though.

Started the process to locate the external antenna, found that the existing signal is in the 2G range. Hope that the directional antenna will help this improve.

The booster only amplify the exisiting signal. If the outside antenna gets a weak signal it will boost, but not anything else. If I understand things correctly, 2G is a different frequency than 3G or 4G, not just a stronger signal.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

I learn something new about this almost every day. That's not too surprising since I knew next to nothing about the subject when I started. One thing I have noticed is that the "so called" tech support people rarely agree on the same thing. Or maybe I'm just too dumb to know that there can be multiple answers to the same question, many of which seem to be opinions rather than fact. :?: :?: :lost: (usually).

Update on this topic. I purchased and installed a directional antenna (outside) and the usual interior components by Wilson. It has been working fine for about 2 weeks.
