My Gate Will Be Open

Postby Barnyard » Sat May 16, 2020 9:43 pm

Yes, the Bash is postponed until August. However I have had a couple people say they may be in the area and asked if they could stop by.. Here is how it is, If you are in the neighborhood and wish to stop in for the day, night or weekend, feel free to do so, I will be sitting around the fire whether it is just me, Rosanne and my security force or if a few others are here. I'm not going anywhere.

However, if you are passing through the Cincinnati area and plan to stop, please let me know ahead of time.

That could be done, but I'll probably be the only one there.

Would that be the first or second stump on the left?

I had my granddaughters ride in the back of the pickup on their first trip to the acreage. I had one granddaughter throw out bread crumbs so we could find our way back. The other granddaughter was on hillbilly and Indian watch.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Over the years we do kayak and canoe trips in the NJ pine barrens. We take two vehicles and leave one down stream at the end site. Then everyone piles into my pickup with the canoes and kayaks on my trailer and the kids ride in the open bed as we 4wheel into the sugar sand trails.
Once we’re deep into the woods we’ll stop and tell the kids they need to closely watch the trees for the Jersey Devil who’s been known to swoop down to claim a victim. The faces then range from  to  and back to .
 Hey what can I say I went thru that too when I was a kid. ;) NJ folk lore. Must be passed on.

Bill, what effect would this rain you're receiving have on the Bash if we were having it? The Barnyard directly as well as routes into your place. Just listening to WLW radio makes me not want to be anywhere near Cincinnati in general.

The roads would be fine getting here. As for the barnyard, there would be no plowing on the day it rains, but the ground usually dries out to plow withing a day if it is sunny. We have about 8 to 10 inches of topsoil on top of sand/bank run. Other than that, we have had some good rains during the Bash as you may remember.

Just curious. Inside the 275 outer belt there is a lot going on with rising water, evacuations, etc. Rising rivers don't go down right away when the rain stops. They keep being fed by upstream runoff.

We got by all the local flooding with nothing more than some wet ground and missed about a week of planting.

I see Indiana is now allowing groups of100. Ohio still has us limited to 10. See you all in August.
