6 WEEKS TO GO!

Dave, I trust that you have everything lined up for your '59 Cub Project so we can have some good learning opportunities.

The Cub Power Unit Project has really taken on a life of it's own. Hopefully we can put a "good dent" in it over the course of the weekend.

In addition to taking the lead on Dave's '59, Cecil will be doing a gasket making workshop.

Larry (Buzzard Wing), are you OK with the assignment as "Official" ConnectiCubFest photographer?

Stay tuned.

Let's see. I think he said he had 3 million pictures of Cubs. But he could have just been bragging.

That's either the drawbar of a Farmall Regular or of an F series.

Hey I was just the photographer! What do I know of tractors?? I will show it to you Cecil. They have some real interesting stuff lying around Zagray farm. Tough to get a good shot, but some birds built a home in a tool box in one of the old Farmalls.

There are a few that I think would make a great 'look at my new tractor' photo.... but that would only confim my tractor problem to whoever saw it. They wouldn't get the joke, cause they know I tell the truth and would not be at all suprised by it.

I don't quite remember if that's a regular or an F20, but we have left that tractor alone at the farm as a memorial to the Zagray brothers. there has been talk of getting the engine running without moving the tractor. it would be kind of novel - with the tree growing up through it.

If it has open steering gears and a 3 speed tranny its a Regular. If the gears are in gear box and it has 4 speeds it's a F20

Hi Peter. I am back from my trip to St. Maarten and Anguilla (Buffett concert :-:-):
The '59 is ready to go! As you know, I've done some work but not too much.
Done:
Engine is free.
Valves opening & closing
New head gasket after cleaning/polishing cylinders & underside of head.
New Battery.

Needs:
Carb rebuild. I have the IH kit.
Valve cover gasket (cecil's demmonstration perhaps?)
change all fluids. Possibly run kerosene in it first to clean it out?
Install plugs & wires (oops, I need to order them)
Install new fuel line/fuel bowl and fuel tank/hood.

There are many other misc. things that are more cosmetic. I think the goal here is to get it up & running & make sure everything is working properly. That is unless someone wants to bring a sand blaster, paint and a spray booth

Dave

Gasket are easy to make for some applications however, you are better off buying this particular gasket. I will use another application for show and tell.

Me(bigbill) and Kit talked today and we should have the power supply frame ready to go in a week or two we have the plans made and were good to start soon. I have the materials already too. On the base I'm going to use heavy ship and car channel and on the side rails I'll use a lighter ship and car channel so all the weight has a lower center of gravity so its more stable and stays were you put it during its use too.

This is turning out to be a fun project for me and Kit.

BTW; Were going to paint the frame red do you want gold pin stripe on it too?? We want that old look to it too.

I would like to see one of those large hit n miss engines run again maybe on another cub fest there we can work on that? It needs a frame too.....

That tractor in the pic is an old way of locking it up because it ain't going anywhere???? That tree grew right into the drawbar you have to love nature...

I did notice they had a lineup of F-20's or regulars at zagray they looked neat I can't wait to get a closer look we were too busy with the power supply that day we seen it as we drove down the road from it. That place is really neat with all the toys to play with.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

Did anyone checkout the pics in the photo section of the flywheel/drive plate setup? Or the other pics of the power supply?
