I put all of the photos of the Cub power unit on my site http://cubcollector.com/photos/misc/Cub%20Power%20Unit/index.html

I haven't had time to get beck to Zagray or look into any parts. It's starting to look like my Cub won't be done for the show either. Our company was sold this week and I'm going to be working with our new owners to get connected to their headquarters (in Germany). It should be an interesting month. :?

Art,

With BlackJeep running into some changes at work maybe BigBill & Kit can step to the plate and make sure we have everything we need. Is this ok with everyone?

Great photos. Here's what I see with just a quick look:

* air cleaner cap, pipe, hoses and clamps
* IH carb kit - may need idle tube and/or float as you get into carb
* safety fuel cap
* fuel strainer assembly (or bowl, bail, screen & gasket)
* distributor cap, rotor?, points & condensor set, one clip is missing
* 4 Champion D-21s
* plug and coil wire set
* 4 quarts of your favorite 30 wt oil
* oil filter element, gasket & bolt gasket
* valve cover, oil pan and oil drain plug gaskets
* gallon+ of antifreeze
* PB Blaster or Kroil
* Seafoam
* MMO
* carb cleaner
* muffler & clamp if you're feeling frisky :D

I may have missed a few things. We'll see what others suggest.

If you don't get the mag done I plan on bringing my spare. That should get it running for you.

We could silicone the mag cover inside and out to keep the moisture out.

Bill, no need to silicone the magneto cover. If the cover is true, and the housing in true and you have a GOOD gasket.. the seal should suffice. A little grease around the seal would help though, I would think.

Were do we get the parts from?? I have no cub parts to donate. I have no cub junkyard here yet. We can fabricate the base to mount the power supply and i'll look into repairing the broken oil line and maybe cleaning up the engine a little so it looks ok with the new frame but i have no other parts to work with. WE (me and kit) stepped up to the plate to fabricate the stand and i'm supplying the material(steel) and doing the cutting and welding and kit is going to help this happen too. BigBill

Peter, Who are the guys who have definitely committed to working on the ZFM Cub to get it going? And when does this actual work happen - before the actual Cubfest or during?

OK, a little clarification here.
BigBill, Zagray Farms/QVEA will supply all of the parts necessary to get the Cub Power Unit restored. Art has already gotten quite a few of them together. I just want to make sure that we have everything we need so that we can have a successful project during the CubFest. John(BlackJeep) is still going to take the "crew chief" position on the Power Unit as far as I know unless he says otherwise. Bill and Kit, I really appreciate what you have done so far with the base and insights on the Power Unit itself. I'm sure Zagray Farms/QVEA will be equally appreciative of your efforts to date.
Kit-the fun part of CubFests is we don't sit around all day long looking at row after row of 'purty' Cubs. We have fun working on them and with them, as well as sitting around talking about them.
Cecil & CTdave are heading up the crew that will be doing a stem to stern maintenance overhaul/check/tune-up on Dave's 59 Cub. This should prove to be a great teaching/learning opportunity for all of us.
Don McCombs is trying his best to be there on Saturday, and he is one of the forum's carburator experts. He has a carb flattening jig that works sweet for warped carbs.
Other guys/gals that need help with something will be there as well and we will all do our best to help them out.
Oh, we do eat when we get a chance. Saturday Breakfast & Dinner will be hosted at the Farm by some of the forum members with donation buckets available to offset their costs to serve us in this way. CubFests are designed so the cost does not get out of control for the host(s) or the forum members. Though we are going to be sharing the farm with QVEA for their Spring Gas-Up Show, Art has picked out a location for us as a Club where we can set up our campers, tents, Cubs, etc.
It's all about Cubs & Fun.
Hope this helps.

Whoa, whoa here one minute Me BigBill & Kit are fabricating the frame only then the others who were going to work on the power supply and make it run. I stepped up to the plate on the fabrication of the frame only here.
