PICO disc harrow help

Postby Jw79nc » Wed Aug 30, 2023 5:00 pm

Does anyone know of a resource for Poplarville Implement Company (PICO) disc harrows? I picked one up this past weekend and the original owners Wife said he got it new with a new Super A in 1950. It’s not an IHC brand product, it has PICO on the bearing cases. I’d like to find operator info on it. It’s in fantastic condition. I’d post pictures but keeps saying the file size is too large.

I don’t think there is much available, if anything. They were made in Poplarville, MS. Not far from Buddy Banks. I think he has a couple of these. I used to have one. Do you have the ‘V’ bar that mounts on the drawbar? I like them, they cut well. But be sure to have the little pieces of angle iron mounted on the drawbar to keep the blades from contacting your rear tires. It will eat the tires up if you don’t. Either by turning with disc still in ground or raising it up far enough for the disc to slide to the side. I’ll post pics of one I had if I can find them

I do not have the v-bar, I wish I could upload pics to show the tongue. It may have been modified at some point

Looks like your disc is mounted on a SA. Not trying to hijack your post but here's a picture of a disc that I got with a 49 FCub and was told it was a Poplarvile disc but I can't find any markings or anything to ID it. The second picture is another one that I got with a 49 FCub, and is attached to a Cub drawbar the way the PO used it. It's been heavily modified in the mounting/attachment area, again no ID information to be found. Anyone want to make a guess? Stan

Ah, not for a cub. Not familiar with this one, so disregard my comment.
