Tractors hooked in tandem
Anybody have a link to pictures of tractors hooked in tandem (front to rear, not side by side). That seem's to have been a fairly common practice or way to gain more power in the days before the high hp, bend-in -the-middle tractors.

If I remember correctly it had something to do with farming in the Nederlands... (Holland), and they were deep plowing like 2 foot deep or something like that.. it was amazing..
I looked and can't find it either.. search string must be wrong...

what makes my cub very rare is that it's the only one I've ever owned.

I have seen them on some of the tractor shows on RFD TV, and as John said, they were used mostly in the corn and wheat areas. I am more interested in seeing a set up where the front tractor is complete (all it's original wheels) and the front wheels removed on the rear tractor - acts as a powered trailer so to speak. One of the RFD TV shows not long ago had a pair of JD "R's" I believe, but they were paired like the ones in the link yaume posted - no front wheels on either.

Paul, I just got a book on the way to Cape Cod, and is has a few pics of a couple of tractors like you are talking about, but i don't have a scanner with me, but when i get home in a week, i will scan them for you, if you still want them, or i might be able to take a digital pic of them now?
