1948 Model M Deere Distributor fix Question

Postby TOOLMAN » Tue Mar 17, 2009 1:09 pm

Now that I have a new points plate for my Model M distributor
Here is my question
I wanted to remove the distributor to do the fix or should I try to leave it in place and change plate where it sits?
If I was to remove the distributor at TDC and mark the position of rotor for re install
would I be OK or would I risk throwing off the timing (which I dont want to do)
Thanks

Set the engine to #1 TDC compression and mark where the rotor points to. Take a digital picture, just in case. Then you can remove the distributor and fix 'er up.
