i'm gathering that the original decals had a clear film between the letters and were of mylar material.
then there are the vinyl cut decals with nothing in between.
any recommendations as to type and supplier? The price difference isn't the issue, screwing up a (i hope) nice paint job is.
thanks, art

The factory applied decals were a water transfer style. These used a clear film on which the lettering was printed.
The mylar style sold now are fine to use as the factory "equivalent".
Die cut vinyl decals are ok if you like them. I find them to be very pricey $$$$. Please do NOT claim that the tractor is "restored" or "like original" when using these. It is actually modified at the very least.
There are several tractor decal suppliers like: (in no particular order)
http://www.cngco.com, http://www.tractordecal.com, or maple-hunter.
Buy whatever type of decal you find that you like or can afford.

I went to his site and found the decal sets for the cubs but, the dates are all wrong . My dad's cub will need new decals but, I can't tell which ones to order .

To the best of my knowledge, there are three different aftermarket choices I have seen floating around on ebay and various other tractor parts sites. Each set has a different pair of hood decals.
1) For the first or "early" cubs, there is the set that reads"McCormick Deering Farmall" with the circle cub decals.
2) For the cub year models up to late 1949, there is the set that reads "McCormick Deering Farmall Cub". This is the set I am in search of.
3)For the late 1949 cubs and up, there is the set that reads "McCormick Farmall Cub".
I think I have the dates correct but, don't quote me on them. Jim Becker, Bermuda Ken and others are the authorities on decals .
