Looking from the front, on the right side of the engine block, just above the hydrolic pump there is a "fitting"? Since my cub smokes a little I can see smoke coming from this fitting. Any idea what it is, perhaps a block vent? Is it supposed to be connected to anything?
Also, just took off the PTO shaft for a C-22 sickle mower complete with Pulley shield, looks like it was used lightly, everything spins as it should. Let me know if anyone needs one.
Thanks
Straylight.

Straylight,
That fitting should have a tube connecting it to the intake side of the air cleaner. It's function is to remove some of the blow-by, but more importantly, to create a slight vacuum in the crankcase to minimize oil leaks.
Look for the other fitting it connects to between the top of the filter section of the air cleaner and the hood. If I remember right, it will take 1/4" OD tubing with compression fittings. In any case, the fittings on both ends connect to 1/8" pipe threads.
It's unclear which shaft you mean... the PTO shaft or the flywheel shaft. I'm in need of a 4" or 4 1/2" pulley for the former.

PTO for C-22
Thanks for the info. The part I have is the whole shaft from that goes under the tractor. It has a pulley on the rear that connects via a belt to the tractor PTO pulley, the front of the shaft appears to be a round disk with an ecentric ofset to hook up to the mower to give the teeth the back and forth sawing action.

Straylight:
Go to the manual server at the link below. In the Parts Manuals section you will find the MR-5 Mower Manuals as well as the CBI series. The CBI-2A is for the fast hitch stuff.
All the info on the mower parts is in those manuals. Let us know what parts you need. Also, you can probably purchase these parts from one of the great folks below.

Which would be the better pulley - the 4" or the 4-1/2"? In other words is faster better or slower?

Rudi,
Maybe it's just me, but I think slower is much better. IH sent the smaller pulley to use on the higher speed engines. I think they all run too fast because of the vibration... they can't, by their nature, be well balanced... so they shake the bejeebers out of the tractor and operator.
I was going to use mine this afternoon for the first time this year but Lurker Carl stopped in to pick up your plow part and we had a lengthy, but very enjoyable visit. I'll mow another day.

Yup, Carl sent me a note saying he had the part and that his visit was Very enjoyable!
Will try and find me a 4-1/2" pulley. The less vibration is better, so I guess slower will be the way to go. Will be interesting to see how this all fits together as I get it done piece by piece.

Rudi,
Yeahbut... the mower will run slower if you use a 4" pulley... about 11% slower. Actually, I think either will be fine, depending on which one you can find. Power is not an issue, so you can use a low engine speed. I usually mow just a little above idle speed since the mower pulls easily.
