Missy-ippi trip
Left home about 7:30 Sunday morning, but since I have to take a break about every hour and a half or so, my trips take longer than they used to. Arrived in Poplar Bluff in time to attend Church there, and then after a quick stop at Jack-in-the- box, it was on south. Made a stop in Rector, Ar. for a brief visit with Garvin Gatewood.
Had a nice visit with Garvin and family, as well as viewing his stable of cubs and attachments (Garvin, what's it worth not to give BigDog the exact location of those cubs?). I had lost a dust cover off one of the hubs of my new trailer on the way south, and Garvin fixed me up with a cut off soda can and a plastic tie wrap for a replacemnet which survived the entire 500+ miles of the reamining trip.
Headed on south, and arrived at my rented room in Batesville, Ms. about 5:30. I rested a few minutes and called Cub-Bud. After getting directions, I drove on over to his house for a visit and to look Missy over . she looked great. Kelsey climbed up on Missy for a last goodbye.
The next morning I came back and we loaded Missy as well as all the extra parts i had sent along.
One last check to make sure everything was secure, a check out of the trailer (found a couple loose lugs), thanking Bud more than once for all his work, and I was ready to head for home about 9:30. BigDog, Bud still has 3 cubs and a B at his place.
After a few rest stops along the way, I arrived back home in Potosi about 5;30 p.m. I had a great trip. Missy is now back home in her own yard.
After some rest I unloaded Missy into the "necessary" shed at the farm. I'll take some better pictures when it stops rainning. There are still some minor things to do that Bud didn't have time to finish before I arrived, but they won't take much. I'm not sure yet, but Missy may be at Red Power this summer.
Again, my thanks to Cub-Bud. Idon't know if I ever would have had Missy running again with out his help.

Great pictures John! And thanks for the cub information. I talked to Garvin a little at the last Cubarama. Guess I'll have to slip a homing device into his pocket the next time.

John,
Glad to hear you made it home with no problems. How is Missy re-adjusting to her familiar surrondings with "new clothes" Is your other cub jealous
Just so everyone will know, I did not do all the work myself. My Dad helped with the assembly and with the prep for painting.
I looked at the calender and, from my figures, it took 11 weeks to get Missy done.....sure doesn't seem that long. I guess time does fly by when you are having fun
You are most certainly welcome, John.

For most of this summer it will probably get light duty, such as the dirt scoop, or maybe the grader blade. After it's run in good it will get mower duty, with the old 48 which now has the touch control taking over the duties that require using the lift a lot.artc wrote:that tractor sure looks a bit better than when she was in your shed last, John How'd you drive all the way home looking in the rear view mirror

Fantastic job! I was curious about a couple things: First, where'd you get the McCormick-Deering decals, and what brand of tires are on the back....are they the original tires?

It's been almost 2 years since I bought thedecals, but if I remember correctly, they came from Binder books.Super A wrote:Fantastic job! I was curious about a couple things: First, where'd you get the McCormick-Deering decals, and what brand of tires are on the back....are they the original tires?

The tires are Allstate. I think they may have been an original type for some cubs, but didn't come on that one. They are a pair I picked up used to put on it because I couldn't afford new ones. They have a good bit of weather cracking, but I think they'll hold up for 3 or 4 years until I can affored some better ones. They do ride a little rough.

I like those tires, they remind me of the original Firestone pattern that was used in the late 40's. I wish I could find a NOS pair of 11.2-24 (they would have said 10-24) for my Super A! Again, VERY nice Cub!
