Greetings all!
I am a Binder Bulletin supporter, as I just bought a Scout 800 this past summer I'm "playing" with. Just so you know I love IHC's!
My 90 year old aunt lives about 65 miles away and wants me to come down and look at her late 40's Cub. Her neighbor was taking care of it for her (her husband dies years ago) but he died over the winter, and her battery was safely stored in his basement. Safely anyway till he died. She never got it back.
Some local "kid" (which to my aunt could be a 60 year old guy!) came over and started it early in the season, but some of the electric stuff got fried somehow. I think this "kid" powered it up with a 12V battery and fried the wiring. Could that be? If so, any hints on what would need to be fixed, other than getting a regular 6V battery for it?
She wants me to come down with my trailer, get it, bring it up here and fix. I'm good with wiring, though I've never had a 6V anything. I figure I can fix it for her, just hoping maybe some of you might have some advice.
By the way, great site you folks have here! I may have to get me one of these Cubs for a toy eh?

Frank, the main thing to remember is that the 6 volt system is positive ground. There may not be any major damage to the components but it will depend on whether it is a magneto ignition or battery / coil ignition. You may find a bad coil or perhaps a voltage regulator is as bad as it gets. Get it home, check it out and we'll be ready to help.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
