groundhogs
well I haven't posted in awhile and need to post some pictures. However, groundhogs have been tearing me up. I have trapped 4 adults in a week. I still have 3 adults and 6 kids that I know of. They are the only animal that I know off, that everytime you kill 1 they bring 2 more to the funeral. If anyone needs a few groundhogs let me know and I will overnight them to you. I kill about 30 a year.

Re: groundhogs
I am familiar with the problem. Groundhogs were a real problem in the open shed where I used to keep and work on my tractors. They would burrow under the concrete floor on the sides and come up under the center floor, which was an old grainary. I pretty much ignored them till they started eating holes in the wooden floor, then I started working on them. I got several with an old single action 22 till I only wounded one, then they learned to duck at the click of the cylinder turning. I then eliminated several with an old .410. Final solution was to pour my old oil in their holes. After doing that for a while they left.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
you are part of the problem!!!

Re: groundhogs
Strange I haven't had one in 5 or 6 years. Didn't think about it till this post. About a month ago I saw my first rabbit on the place in 20 years. We had rabies big time about 10 years ago. I guess it is one of mother natures cycles.
Last fox was 5 or 6 years ago too and he was real mangy looking.
No muskrats in a while either.

Re: groundhogs
OK THAT'S IT! NOW I'M ANGRY! I have a couple ground hogs and so far they have lived in the brambles and only eaten grass. Live and let live. Yesterday I had corn chewed off about a foot above ground. They're to quick for the .22 so first order of business today is a box of 410's.

that's the problem danr, they coax you into thinking that they are no problem, but all along they are setting you up for the big garden raid. my two cents is that you need a good vantage point to shoot from and a lot of patience.you 'll need to train your self to look before you step and soon or later you will get him in the kill zone.
i did around 5 last year and trapped as many with apples in the everhart.i have not seen one lurking around so far this year and i chalk that up to my new addition jack the jack russell terrier. he even barks at my honey bee's and i'm not joking, birds what ever he doesn't want them around. hope you make out with them ,i know how agravating they can be.

Re: groundhogs
I had one eat my whole row of broccoli a few nights ago. I went to the potato row the next day and it was hiding. I was close enough that I gave it a swift kick in the arse and sent it flying like a football it turned around and started back at me - then when it saw my dog a coming it bee-lined for the woods.
