Grumpy!!!---Are you saying that you have a slight moist spot over there?????---know the feeling!---I did do a little more sod tillin' with the 706 this evening to test the carb problem and it was a little on the damp side yet, but I wanted to cut the fall plowed ground the first time before grass/weeds got a big start.
Our onions, turnips, and a few hulless oats are up. ground is still awfully cold here yet! thanks; sonny

Got out today and finished planting. At least for the time being. My other stuff is coming up skippy. Think it was because of all the rain we had last week. Anyway, we set out 74 Better Boy tomato plants, 8 bell peppers, 8 cayenne peppers, 4 hot jalapeno peppers, 4 oriential egg plants, and a bunch of cucumbers. Now just to cultivate the stuff and wait till it is taime to gather it.

Today the peas and fava beans are about an inch tall!---temps are on the rise,---might be short lived but this time of the year they fluctuate a lot!
planted a few pepper and tomato plants under covers, so they might get a head start over the main crop! thanks; sonny

I'll have to water today. No rain in sight. I'm going by the moon this year just for curiosity. Billy, What are you going to do with all those tomatoes?

Dan,
We set out a lot of plants just to make sure we have enough tomatos. My wife makes hot sauce (picante type). With the tomatos and the 12 bunches of onions, we have plenty. Plus we like fresh tomatos and we give a bunch away to the older folks that like them but are not able to garden anymore. All my stuff is up except the Kandy Korn. It was old seed that we wanted to use up. Probably will have to replant the whole Kandy Korn area. Planting by the signs can't hurt anything. I try to but this year, I had to wait until Good Friday. It was dry enough then.

Re: Season long garden log for 2009!(w/pics & videos)!
Cranberry and blueberry bed is almost completed and plants are in.---need to add a little more peat moss/sand mix around the outside edges.
Kind of hard to see the blueberry plants, but there are 4 of them.
The cranberry plant in the new bed
the cranberry plant we bought, (had 2 ripe berries on it)
If this method works we may try more later on. thanks; sonny

This is some of what has come up in the gardens, so far.
small patch of hulless oats
2 rows (100' long) of onions with short end of fava beans (favas are about 6" tall today)
pea row (60' long) and they are also about 6" tall
cabbage, tomato, and pepper seedlings in the earthbox,---waiting for some dry weather so I can start setting them out in open ground.
4 rows of spuds,---NO, NOT the 18 rows we had last year!!!---(still got spuds in the cellar from last year and they are not too bad condition yet!--we have used a bunch of them this winter
Turnip triangle,---just scattered some seed at the end of the oats patch in a triangular are by the gate!
also have 3 tomatoes and 5 pepper plants by the house under jugs,---they are about to out-grow the jugs.
This is most of whats growing so far,---still waiting out the wet weather and cold ground before planting the warm weather stuff!
Thats kind of where we stand as of this date. thanks; sonny

Got a little done yesterday while it was dry,------Today it is downpour and near flooding in the neighbors cornfield that he just planted last night!!!
I have been waiting for the ground temps to warm up as the soil is still VERY cold here this year and seed would rot quickly if planted! thanks; sonny

We prepped a new strawberry bed three (3) weeks ago and my wife set the new plants on May 2nd while I was at CTCubFest. I put 2 yards of natures finest in an area about 15' x 25'. To keep the deer away we are trying an old Maine trick. We strung a line around the bed about 2' off the ground with a bar of Ivory soap on it every 3'. If that doesn't work I'll have to shoot the critters or I'll make up another PVC Pipe and bird netting structure that has worked quite well for us.
The main garden (30' x 60') has been treated with RoundUp and has a 2 yard pile of manure to be spread and then Rototilled.
I use a pre-MTD TroyBilt Econo-Horse tiller for the gardens. The Cub is just too much tractor for the area we do.
Memorial Day Weekend will be planting time. Green Beans, Broccoli, Green Soybeans, Spinach, Yellow Squash, Zucchini, a few tomatoes, and a few green bell pepper plants.
