100 Manure Spreader
I was out scouring the local tractor junk yard for cub parts when I spotted a IH 100 Manure spreader.Closer inspection revealed that it was in very condition. The auger on the back was a little bent but the rest of it looked great.I'm not sure if there is supposed to be guards over the chains and sprockets but there weren't any.
I asked what he had for a price on it and he said that offered it to a guy last fall for $800.00 but the guy never came back.
Is that a fair price?

Yes, there are supposed to be guards over the chains and for $800 I would expect very, very good condition.

Re: 100 Manure Spreader
That's kind of what I thought. $800.00,that's almost half the price of a running Cub!!

Re: 100 Manure Spreader
Without the guards, IMHO nope way too high. I think myself that $800.00 for a McCormick 100 is a bit much as is unless it is in super condition, everything there, good paint etc. for a non refreshed spreader. Here is the manual McCormick 100 Tractor Manure Spreader

Re: 100 Manure Spreader
Prices vary as widely on those as they do for Cubs. I gave a lot less than that for mine with everything there.
The covers can be pricey "IF" you find them. I can understand why the last guy never came back. There is (or at least was) a complete one about and hour and a half from me in Indiana for sale two weeks ago for $500.00. Make sure it is the 100 and not the 200. The 200 is worth a lot less but is very similar.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: 100 Manure Spreader
After looking at the picture in the manual that Rudi just posted it is not a 100. Anyone have a picture of a 200?

Re: 100 Manure Spreader
A 200 is about 14 1/2 feet long tip to tip. A 100 is about 11 1/2. The 200 looks the same but has an additional side support.

Dale bought what he thought was a 100 spreader that turned out to be a 200.

The pics Rudi posted are also of a 100.

Dale's 100
Dale did have some pix of a 200 somewhere. I will have to look for them.

Those pictures are of the #100 i bought in Indiana. Steve henderson will be picking it up for me when the ground co-operates.
I will get some pics of the #200 i have here.

Dale:
Ooops .. oh well, I knew that you had gotten the 200 as well.... will leave em up cause it does show the shields that he would need ifn he does get it.. provided he can knock the scrap yard dealer's price down to something reasonable.
Also, the pics do really show the differences between the two spreaders. Many similarities but there are obvious differences as well.
My mind really isn't here.. nor my eyes... I keep getting drawn away to the Hockey Game...

Yup Rudi, the length of the guards is the tell tale giveaway. On the #100 they are short and do not go much past the tires on either side of the spreader. On the #200 they are obviously long.

Re: 100 Manure Spreader
800 is to high for one without the shields; even if it has brand new tires. I gave 200 for mine last June, including fuel to go get it. It was complete, but the shields need some minor bodywork.

Re: 100 Manure Spreader
I am in need of the cast iron unit that bolts on to the sprocket, which drives the apron on my MODEL 200. The part number is 3367-SB. Does anyone have one? Or, does anyone know if a Model 100 cast uron unit would work?
