Greg,

I'd really like to see pictures of that rake when you get finished with it. Mom still has Poppy's rake, her and Dad have it sitting in the front yard and it's in really good shape. I'd kinda like to have it and restore it to go behind our '51 "M" since they are the same year. However it would be kinda tough to haul to a show...

I believe Granny still has the paperwork on the rake...

Hi Dusti!

Thanks for replying! It will not be long before my rake is finished.I contacted the Wisconsin Historical Society 3 years back and going by numbers that were on the rake, and by taking it apart to the point of seeing paint colors that never saw the elements, I was able to determine correct colors and approximate era of production. It seems that it was produced around the 1920's.I am having a little trouble getting the dump/raise feature of the tines to operate properly, which is tying things up.As the weather here up North improves, I'll be devoting more time to it.As soon as I can ,before, during, and after photos will come your way.Stay tuned!

Thanks Dusti, great story and really interesting pictures.

I am always on the other side of the question.... none of my Cubs have told me their story. I almost didn't have the dent in the hood of my 50 fixed because I knew there was some history to it (the radiator still shows the repair). It came from St Albans, VT, plowed a lot of snow, mowed and did some cultivating (judging by the stuff that came with it) and according to the auctioneer when I picked it up was owned by a restaurant owner there.

You added a welcome glimpse into how our Cubs may have been an important part of someone's life 60 years ago.

Just bringing this back to the top.

Sure would like to collect some more stories like this for the article.

Thanks.

What a first-rate story and pictures. It was just what I needed to read and relax after a stressful day. Thank you for sharing.
