Noise in engine
I have a 53 Cub and it has a knocking noise in the engine under full throttle and fairly light load. I hear it mostly when on the road in high gear going uphill. If I put a load on it it goes away. I no it is not in the transmission (1st/reverse idler does rattle some) but sounds like it is coming from the engine. I am using Syntec blend 10W30 oil and it holds about 30-35 lbs. pressure at full throttle, and about 10 at idle. Any ideas? Thanks, Roger

Ditto John, sounds like a wrist pin to me.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Engine Knocks
The knock is probably mechanical, since it disappears under heavy load.
There are a couple of other possibilities that will cause a ping/knock. Engine timing off a bit. Weak spark (spark plug/s). Carbon deposits. And on the outside, wrong air fuel mixture. Usually any problems on this list will get worse under load.
Suggest you do a tune up and try some solvent in the fuel system to remove carbon deposits. If that does not solve the problem, tear down time.
Sorry, BOL.
