3 Weeks Till The Indiana Spring Planting Session!
We only have 3 weeks till the Indiana Spring Planting Session!
The weather is looking better and the temps are coming up. It looks like we are timing the field work and the first planting just right!
We have plenty of room for any last minute guests. So bring the wife and the tractor and get ready to work some dirt.
Something I didn't put on the description, there are plety of antique stores and things like that within driving distance for the ladies. I know that is where my wife will be!
Man, there is so much to do and so little time!

Rosie and I plan to be there Thursday before dark. I will be bringing a plow and a disk and will stay until Sunday morning unless we get done early Saturday.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

That sounds great! All we need now is for the weather to dry up a little bit!

Re: 3 Weeks Till The Indiana Spring Planting Session!
OK, so far here is the list of guys I have that are attending:
Jeff Silvey
Larry Gray
Barnyard
Gary Dotson
David Grapes
Denny Clayton
Brad M
Big Dog, I never did hear if you were going to make it or not. If there are any changes of plans, or additions to the list, just let me know and I can revise this post. We can always use more guys!
I plan on just disking the ground at the field to prepare the seed bed since we already plowed in the fall. I have a tandem disc that anyone is welcome to use and Baryard has a single disc. I also think Denny Clayton said he has a disk that he can cring.
We also have a whole other field that can be plowed so if you had your heart set on plowing, we have another 4 acres to plow. I also have a moldboard plow that will be available for use if anyone wants to hook it up to their cub. I think I am going to set mine up with front cultivators and my planter so everyone else can have some fun.
I ordered seed this past week and should have it today or tomorrow. I will also have some extra if anyone needs it. I bought Incredible (yellow), Ambrosia (bi-color), and Silver King (white).
The calendar is racing along.

Re: 3 Weeks Till The Indiana Spring Planting Session!
I have been looking at the weather and am wondering what the thoughts are on the planting session next weekend. I know there are guys that need to plan ahead and I am looking for suggestions on how to go about keeping it on or calling it off.
Thanks,
BigMatt

Re: 3 Weeks Till The Indiana Spring Planting Session!
I hate to say it, but from the soil I saw when there last time, if it rains Sunday like they are predicting, there is a very high probability that it will be too wet to plow next week. Of course a rain date will be hard to come up with for some of us also.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

OK, I will wait and see what it looks like this weekend and I will call it on or off on Sunday. I think the 5 day forecast on Sunday should be accurate enough to tell what will go on that week.

I'm predicting a late planting season here in the Ohio/Indiana area.

Good old Denny, the original old farmer from the "Old Farmer's Almanac".

Re: 3 Weeks Till The Indiana Spring Planting Session!
Big Matt,
Well, it is going to take a lot of luck between now and then based on what the extended forecast is showing and how wet it is now. I am game to move to whenever it works best, as long as my schedule permits, I will be there to help.
You could always change the name from “Indiana Spring Planting Session” to “Scooby Doo Session” as there will be a lot of rut-rows made by the Cub tires……. (sorry; I must live too close to Barnyard….)
Just let me know,
