Gas Gauge??

I've seen this item on several Cubs @ gatherings & etc. I've done a search in the "how to" section but nothing turns up.
(paint stir stick with graduated markings) Does someone make these? I think the ones I saw had printing, and maybe even a logo. Thanks,

Rick Prentice had some made up when he was operating KubKraft. There should still be several hundred of them around. I think also in somewhere in the how - to or in the CBoK there is a thread with the measurements.

I used to have an airplane without a gas gauge so I made a dip stick out of a 3/4" dowel rod. Instead of markings (will come off over time) I notched the dowel at each gallon. Then it was just a matter of counting the notches. Thinking of doing the same for my cubs. You can be creative with notches for eaiser counting. Instead of adding a gallon at a time to get correct measurements you can use the measurements Russall shared from Rick.

I used a old broom handle and put notches on it before RP made his. Took a lot of time putting one gallon at a time in the tank. It has lasted 20 years so far. It does get misplaced every now and then but it has its own nail in the barn to hang on.

we always had a stick hanging in the shed for our H tractors, never marked it, just compared height of fuel to depth of tank. We had a neighbor that would just grab whatever he found laying around,small limb on the ground, etc. He could never understand why is carbs were always needing cleaning.

A Fuel Hawk is another solution that's used in general aviation light airplanes every day. The universal model should work for just about anything. It's a thick, clear, plastic tube that you stick into the tank and cover the top with your finger. when you withdraw the tube you can read the fuel level on the calibrated scale.
