Gas Gauge??I've seen this item on several Cubs @ gatherings & etc. I've done a search in the "how to" section but nothing turns up.
(paint stir stick with graduated markings) Does someone make these? I think the ones I saw had printing, and maybe even a logo. Thanks, Regards, Stan
Re: Gas Gauge??Rick Prentice had some made up when he was operating KubKraft. There should still be several hundred of them around. I think also in somewhere in the how - to or in the CBoK there is a thread with the measurements.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem. My wife says I don't listen to her. - - - - - - - - Or something like that! http://www.cubtug.com
Re: Gas Gauge??Is this what you are looking for ?
quote="Barnyard"]I generally use an ounce to a gallon of gas or the whole can for a full tank. Read the can for crank case use. To know how much fuel is in your tank, a lot of us have fuel level sticks given to us by Rick Prentice. You can easily make one from a paint stick. Here is the stick and dimensions: ![]() Put your maks at these distances 1 gallon = 1 3/4" 2 gallon = 2 5/8" 3 gallon = 3 7/16" 4 gallon= 4 5/16" 5 gallon = 5 5/16" 6 gallon = 6 1/4" 7 gallon = 1 1/2" Full= 9" Russ 1979 International Cub (Artie),193 plow,22 sickle mower,144 cultivator,54a blade,59" belly mower, wheel weights

Re: Gas Gauge??That's it, Thanks Russ. That'll help alot. Normally what I find to measure with, I shouldn't..

Re: Gas Gauge??I used to have an airplane without a gas gauge so I made a dip stick out of a 3/4" dowel rod. Instead of markings (will come off over time) I notched the dowel at each gallon. Then it was just a matter of counting the notches. Thinking of doing the same for my cubs. You can be creative with notches for eaiser counting. Instead of adding a gallon at a time to get correct measurements you can use the measurements Russall shared from Rick.
Re: Gas Gauge??
I used a old broom handle and put notches on it before RP made his. Took a lot of time putting one gallon at a time in the tank. It has lasted 20 years so far. It does get misplaced every now and then but it has its own nail in the barn to hang on. 1975 cub (LouAnn) serial # 245946, 1941 John Deere Model H

Re: Gas Gauge??we always had a stick hanging in the shed for our H tractors, never marked it, just compared height of fuel to depth of tank. We had a neighbor that would just grab whatever he found laying around, small limb on the ground, etc. He could never understand why is carbs were always needing cleaning.

Re: Gas Gauge??Rus, Thanks for adding those measurments to this post. I've been been contemplating making a measuring stick, now I have the motivation to do so. And thanks for bringing up this topic, Stan.

Re: Gas Gauge??There is one error in Russ's measurements. 7 Gallons should be 7 1/2 inches not 1 1/2 inches.

Re: Gas Gauge??
Thanks Larry, I edited my post to prevent any future confusion. I don't believe in taking the bull by the horns. I took a goat by the horns once and that was enough excitement for me.

Re: Gas Gauge??Thanks, John! Kodiak has already responded with an extra one. I do appreciate it, though.
BTW, already searching the recycle bin for tractor/farm goodies for next year's events... hehe
Re: Gas Gauge??
Sorry Bill. It appears I am getting credit for your work. The fuel stick is a good idea . There might be a need for another production run. Russ 1979 International Cub (Artie),193 plow,22 sickle mower,144 cultivator,54a blade,59" belly mower, wheel weights

Re: Gas Gauge??
No problem, as long as the guys get the info, that is all that matters. I don't believe in taking the bull by the horns. I took a goat by the horns once and that was enough excitement for me.

Re: Gas Gauge??A Fuel Hawk is another solution that's used in general aviation light airplanes every day. The universal model should work for just about anything. It's a thick, clear, plastic tube that you stick into the tank and cover the top with your finger. when you withdraw the tube you can read the fuel level on the calibrated scale.
