My first Cadet's!!
Welll I now own 2 Cadet 126 and a 100, two others 125-104- that are parts and a rearend!
I Got them at a Auction on the 5th, This auction was at a good friend's of mine that passd away this summer! I did not want to pay 210$ fore the 126 but I did!
The 100 I payed 90$ fore. The 126 engine truns over way to easy, So I took the head off, Found that that the rod is broke cuz the piston is not moving at all! So I need to pull the engine to see if I can save it! I think the 100 will start up! I can tell the piston is moving!
Is there any good place to buy parts at and a engine kit?
This is all the stuff I won at the Auction!

Local auto parts store for Kohler engine parts including the connecting rods.
Deck parts - auto parts store or Case/IH or Cub Cadet dealer. Auto parts store is cheaper.

Congrats on getting the little ones. They can be kind of addictive as well. I think you did ok on them cost wise, but since the 126 was your good friends machine, then the price itself is really immaterial. It is great that you decided to pick up his 126 and restore it... I think you will enjoy that project immensely

If the rebuild kit parts fit the measurements you took on the engine and contains all the needed parts, great, the price sounds reasonable.carson946 wrote:I found some ENGINE REBUILD KITs for 100 120$ comes with the rod. Did I do ok on them? or pay too much!

Re: My first Cadet's!!
I would wait to buy the rebuild kit until you know what you'll have to do with your engine. If you have to grind the crank or bore the cylinder you may need an undersized rod or an oversized piston. You may get a nasty suprise and find the engine is worn so badly you can't rebuild it. This is who I buy rebuild kits from:
(http://www.ebay.com/itm/12HP-ENGINE-REB ... 1c1fecddd4)
I've used the same supplier on three cub cadets. The rod and piston are from Stens and are just fine. Some people say that piston's don't measure up exactly but that's never been a problem for me. As long as your block is good you can basically get a brand new K series Kohler engine for $200 (parts, and machine shop work), as long as you keep the oil changed you got 10-20 more years of use in the old Cub. The 1450 I rebuilt 6(?) years ago has several hundred hours on it now - some of them have been pretty rough.

Re: My first Cadet's!!
Hey Carson...On your 'smoky' Cub Cadet 100...try running some Seafoam in the GAS & the OIL. Then get yer butt on it and RIDE son RIDE The Seafoam will help greatly in cleaning out the carbon off the valves and clean your carb too. I've found that a mixture of SAE 30 weight oil + Lucas Oil Treatment+ Kreen by http://www.kanolabs.com has worked GREAT in all my engines...after using the Seafoam treatment to remove all the old carbon ...'Country'

Re: My first Cadet's!!
Since Country brought this back I had to look at the pictures again (love those old Cadets!). I noticed the "underslung exhaust" on the 100. Is it just pipe or does it have a muffler in line somewhere? Just curious, I have seen many people put the "stacks" up, but not under like that.
Did you make any progress on the 126 engine?
Thanks,

Re: My first Cadet's!!
Hey David...The 100 came from the factory in Lousiville, KY with a standard Kohler round muffler that threaded onto the elbow coming out from the engine (before the elbow was attached on Carson's first photo). ...'Country'
Here's my Model 73 with the original Kohler muffler (before I added the NEW stack muffler)

Yep Country, that is what my 100 has (round one), just thought the underslung was an interesting modification, I guess for the same reasons the Cubs have it.

I sure like your 73, I am in the middle of an Original restoration, hope it turns out looking somewhere close to that!
