The Mercer County Fair, and just when might that be Dusti ?
Sure would like to get this little boy down that way this Summer.
Have plans to take him snow tubing at Winterplace near by you sometime soon.
Very nice video Sonny, just wondering if that will work it up fine enough for cornmeal ?
All new to me, I'd never seen it done until my trip to La this past Fall.
I remember my dad having a hammer mill for our John Deere when I was little, seems it had a screen in the bottom and everything came out pretty course.

Re: Feed Grinding
Yogie,
Mercer County Fair is August 3rd and 4th 2012. We have it on the grounds of Pikeview high School, just off exit 14 on I-77. We have a large antique tractor pull on Saturdays and a open rodeo on Friday and Saturday nights.
Three years ago I started a tractor and engine show there and we had two tractors, both of which were mine. About nine tractors the following year. Last year I think we had 13 tractors and a couple engines. So it is growing. I was elected president of the board this year and I'm somewhat afraid it'll pull me away from my activities with the antique equipment.

I'd love to you down for the Fair, and anyone else you want to bring. It's not a huge Fair, only recently "resurrected". The original "Bluestone Valley Fair" originated back in the 50's in Spanishburg, WV.

Re: Feed Grinding
Thanks so much Dusti, I think Grayson and I could have a cub or two there if it's open for anyone to enjoy.
That's not to far from us and 4 lane about all the way.

Re: Feed Grinding
They made different size burrs for the mills,--hammermills on the other hand used screens with different size/shape holes/slots to control the final size output material!--- with the correct size screens/burr sets you can easily make flour!
a guy North of me even has a very large flour sifter mounted on old wagon gear that sifts the ground flour into 3 or 4 different grades!---very unusual looking machine, very heavy, very high noise level, has several different racks with marbles inside to work the flour to grade it and send it down the right spout
Rudi!!Thanks for the help! thanks; sonny

Re: Feed Grinding
Sonny - Just brought home a Getz burr mill last Sun. hope to get it set up soon. Ground many buckets of feed for the cows & chickens when I was growing up. Have a belt pulley coming for one of my cubs - or can use grandpa's B like dad did! Enjoyed the video (and I do have a corn sheller that works!). Dusty B
