Wisconsin V4 with a Marlow Pump
Picked this beauty up this morning. Our jeep club has decided to clean out our pole barn so we can keep the good stuff inside. This pump was donated to the club 20 years ago and was started only a couple of times. The guy who had gotten it started at that time told me the other night that it needed work on the magneto but the club never wanted to spend the money so it just sat. Instead we always rented pumps for our races. Now that we have decided to clean up the shop down there, I bought this and a huge Snapper walk behind mower. I have absolutely no idea what I'm gonna do with it yet, but it is a conversation piece, a very heavy conversation piece at that.
Has anyone ever seen one of these? I have searched for some info but haven't had any luck.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Well, let me think about this,
A six cylinder Cub that came from...The Buckeye State! Designed and built by a great Ohioan - Rick Prentice
A diesel Cub from...The Buckeye State! Designed and built by a great Ohioan - Gary Dotson
A tricycle Cub from...The Buckeye State! Designed and built by a great Ohioan - George Willer
An air cooled Wisconsin V4 Cub from...The Buckeye State! Designed and built by a great Ohioan - Hmmm
We are no longer a bunch of useless nuts!!!

Re: Wisconsin V4 with a Marlow Pump
we used to have a New Holland baler with one of those 4 cylinder Wisconsins on it. Was a real pain to start hot until Dad converted the mag to use an external coil.

Yeah, we had one about 50 years ago, too. Looked to be older than Bill's. It was a hard starter also. No electric start with a short offset to the crank and about 4 feet from the ground. Had to stand on a hay bale to get enough leverage to crank it.

Re: Wisconsin V4 with a Marlow Pump
Looks like a VE4 or VF4.
VE4 is rated at 13.0 horsepower at 1400 rpms and 20.5 hp at 2200 rpms.
VF4 is rated at 15.0 horse power at 1400 rpms and 23.0 hp at 2200 rpms.
Waste of time and money trying to install the engine in a Cub. Might use the engine to power a 10 KW, 120/240 volt, generator head.

I do to, but I think the tires on front are just for show, no drive train to them.Ida Red wrote:I like that Cub 6-Banger with the 4x4.
Yup, it would be a nice novelty, but only a little gain in horsepower, plus as I remember it is quite a bit heavier than a cub engine.Eugene wrote:Looks like a VE4 or VF4.

Don't worry fellas, I don't think you'll see me doing that mod to it.

That engine would be a little power house!--You betcha it would make a cub beg for mercy!! LOL!---I have one that is missing a side plate and has broken manifold, otherwise it would have been in the first cub that I had ,(it had broken crank, and none to be found back then, so I dumped it before it went completely out,---dont know what new owner ever did with it)! thanks; sonny
