My other passion...
Rickyracer asked to see some photos of my other hobby.
I'll try and get these in some sort of order:
1/4 scale Super Decathlon in the living room. (wife was visiting my daughter's) 89" wingspan Now equipped with a Saito 180 4 stroke swinging an 18' prop.

Re: My other passion...
I'm not having much luck getting these where I want them this morning, but here's another. SE5a WW1 Fighter/scout plane. One photo is on the day of it's maiden flight, the other is @ the Dawn Patrol Rendezvous @ Wright Patterson Air Museum. 64" wingspan 120 Saito 4 stroke, 16" prop. (I'll let the photos fall where they may)

Here's the 4 strokes I prefer: (problem they're expensive) The 180 in the Decathlon goes for around $400.00 (a few years ago) The two strokes are around half that.

Re: My other passion...
She's a sweet flyer, Harold. I didn't build her, but was a kit-built plane. Meaning a box of balsa & plywood and a set of plans...The SE5a I did build, and it came the same way.
I covered it with Solartex (fabric nearly identical to the real planes). She's authentic down to the tail numbers. (kangaroo too) 6th training squadron Australian Air corps.
The kits are the least expensive part. The engine & radio equipment are the kickers. The transmitter can be used on a number of aircraft, so you don't need a radio for each plane. (just a receiver)

Re: My other passion...
Nice. I have an R/C kit up in the attic. Been there for at least 20 years. I used to get what I think was CB radio interference and after a couple of wild excursions to retrieve my plane out of the tree tops.....I put it up.

20yrs ago there were AM frequencies that could get interference with CB. (with more than the allowed 5 watts) 72mhz FM is what I use, but the new stuff is 2.4 Ghz and doesn't require channel control.

Re: My other passion...
That is too cool!!!! When I was young I used to build model planes, but nothing like that. Those planes are cool just to look at let alone fly (I can only imagine). I love the detail on those things!! Thanks for sharing. I'd love to watch you fly those things.

Re: My other passion...
I share your passion. Have been flying solo since 5 yrs old.
Have a U-Can-Do running an OS70. Love trying to hover it hanging on its prop.
Just built a little electric Sabre. Electric has some benefits (and expenses).
Picture compliments of Value Hobby.
Also stepped into a bigger BiPlane. This one is an Ultimate with a Saito 125. This one just has one flight on it.

Love the Ultimate! I have some flying buddies in MI, but I'll have to do a little research to find if you're close. I'm not convinced with electrics yet. Some of their performance as of late is impressive, I'll have to admit.

Re: My other passion...
I flew RC since 1982. There are still a couple down in the shop. The last one I built was a 9 ft Davis D1W done after the one at the Rhinebeck Aerodrome.

Re: My other passion...
Got any pics, Cecil? I love the old birds. There's a group flying nothing but WW1 nearby, called the Hoosier Dawn Patrol. There's also several groups that have spawned from it. KY, OH, NE,and GA to name a few. We try to gather at the International Aeromodelling Center in Muncie once a year. AMA hdq. I find that my SE5a is a bit small compared to the 1/3 scale prevalent now. (there's even a 50% bird that one of the guys built) And yes we do fire up @ sunrise..
