Hello Everybody, I'm Papa's Cub, S.E. Ga.
As a young boy growing up the first tractor I remember was a 600 Ford, a few years later a 640 Ford and finally a 3000 diesel. I never could understand why some folks farmed with one of those one row Farmalls. Years later I married a girl whose Dad owned a 140 and a cub. Although He didn't farm per-se, every spring He would plant about a 10 acre garden and invite both family and community to share in the bounty. He would prepare the ground with the 140 and plant with the cub. Years later he acquired another 140 and announced he was going to retire his old cub. At first I wasn't interested, this little tractor was beat-up, greasy, rusty, had some knocks in the motor and smoked badly. Well, for $500.00 I bought my first cub (1950) w/cultivators and woods mower. At the time I ran an autobody shop and wanted to try to restore this old tractor. About 6 weeks later it emerged with an engine overhaul, an alternator and 12 v. system, lights, brakes, new paint and decals. It looked better than great. I even repainted the mower. A few weeks later even Papa couldn't recognize the cub he had owned for over 30 yrs. I still have my Dad's old 3000 and continue to use it for ground preparation, but I always plant and cultivate with the cub. I mowed grass and gardened with this cub for 25 more yrs before I retired it. A few months ago a friend from a neighboring town called and said he had purchased a 1966 cub at an auction and had decided to sell it, so he delivered it to me. This cub has a new battery and no dents in the hood. Everything else is bent or worn out or missing. I'm thinking this cub was never on a farm, perhaps it was used commercially. Well I no longer have the autobody shop or the mechanics but I intend to try to restore this cub with the help of this forum. So far I've bolted on an alternator and installed a kit in the hydraulic pump. Thanks in advance, Tom.

Welcome to the group Tom. There is a great CubFest in Gillsville Georgia this Friday and Saturday. It's a great chance to meet many of the members of this forum and have a great time working on your Cub or just learning more about them. Come on up if you can. http://home.comcast.net/~whitingr/site/?/home/
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.
