Woods 42 belt
I know this has probably been posted before, but for anyone looking for a new V-belt for a Woods 42, I just purchased a new one from NAPA (#B136) that matches the Woods belt (#3546) I had as a spare for about 2/3 the price:
Woods $61.26 (Messicks and Graham Tractor)
NAPA $39 (including tax and no shipping)
eBay $28 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/REPLACMENT-BELT-FOR-WOODS-OEM-SPECS-3546-/280566982412?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415318670c), but with NAPA I was able to compare it in person. Looked exactly the same as the Genuine Woods belt. Hope it wears the same! Guess I'll find out next spring when the mowing begins again!

Thanks Dale, I'm about to rebuild a 42 mower and this will come in real handy.

Re: Woods 42 belt
Not all Woods 42 mowers are created equal.
Woods 42C-4 (and C-1, C-2, C-3) take Woods Belt #1469
Woods 42C-6 take Woods Belt #27652
Woods 42CF and Woods 42CL take the Woods Belt #3546 mentioned above.
All of these are within a few inches length of each other but that may make the difference in getting it to work right.
There are different part numbers for some of the Woods 59 varieties as well.

Re: Woods 42 belt
The B136 is 133" long, and I have been running them on my Woods mowers for years (42C-?). It may not be the exact right fit, now that I see the post from Scrivet, but it does seem to work fine. What is the length of the Woods #1469?

Re: Woods 42 belt
Since my Woods 42C-? is painted red and there is no data plate, how can I tell which model I have?
This belt (3546) works fine, but I am also curious about the length differences of those listed.

Here is another online source. I've never bought from them, but have heard positive comments from several that have.

About 30 minutes from the house. I've bought from them, although I just found them recently, and was satisfied with what I got.

Re: Woods 42 belt
I have had decent luck with VBelt Supply. They can cross an IH number (fast hitch C-2 mower). Prices are good for kevlar corded belts. They are a division of A&I.

To tell if you have a 6 versus a 4 or under; to me it's simple to look at the reinforcement braces attached directly to the deck. If they go from front to back it's a 6 (they flare out at the front and back). If they are only on the front half then it's a 4 or under. On the top of the 42C-4 parts list on the manual server it gives a break down for 1 thru 4. Really doesn't matter as those all use the same belt.
http://www.cleancomputes.com/Cub/OEM%20Implement%20and%20Attachment%20Manuals/Woods%20Mower%20Manuals/42C-4%20Rotary%20
The data/serial number plate is on the PTO and belt shield. It's usually on a shelf in the garage of the first owner after the first belt adjustment. Since the majority of the manual pictures show it missing I guess they didn't think much of it either.
The real mystery is what happened to the 42C-5?

Re: Woods 42 belt
Dale, can you tell me what tractor these belt sizes were correct for? I have a 57 standard Cub and just bought a 42C deck for it but don't know the proper length. I know I have a 6"PTO pulley. I am also not sure if my cub is an "F" Cub or what or if that even matters, looking for some wisdom as the belt lengths must differ from tractor type to tractor type. Don't want to buy till I know for sure. THX-JBJohnson

From what I can find out the key to the aftermarket belt equaling the OEM as far as wear and longevity is concerned is the KELVLAR in construction. Sometimes this makes the aftermarket nearly equal the OEM belt in price. I chose a GATES B100 for replacement on my BUSH HOG 412 mower, so far, so good. Stan
