Hauling two Cubs…
…Just got easier!
We had to go to Orscheln’s Farm & Home store (bigger, better and cheaper than TSC) to check to see if my tractor seat came in and decided to swing by the Chevy dealer while we were in the area. I kept hearing a little voice calling my name, but Rosanne didn’t want me to follow the sound. I couldn’t resist the temptation so I kept walking through the lot and the voice got louder. It was coming from behind a row of Tahoes and 2500 short bed pickups. When I got there I found this.
I felt sorry for it since it was sitting near the back of the lot and looked so out of place so I checked it out. It’s a 2013 3500 LTZ. With a 6.6 liter Duramax engine connected to an Allison six speed tranny I figured it should be everything I need to pull my enclosed trailer or any other trailer going to CubFests, so I had to talk to a salesman to see what it would take for me to give it a good home. Needless to say we worked out a deal we both could live with. My ¾ ton Cuburban with its 8.1 liter gasser and Allison five speed are great for pulling my 18 foot trailer with a couple Cubs, but I my 24 foot enclosed trailer was a little more than I cared for when caught up in cross winds.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

An old song "give 40 acres and I'll turn this rig around" comes to mind. Congratulations on the new truck, but good luck finding parking spots.

Nice ride. The Duramax and the Allison tranny are a great combination. That is coming from a die hard Ford man too !

Re: Hauling two Cubs…
Nothing beats a Duramax, We have 4 of them around the farm and have done nothing to them except regular maintenance. Now you'll have to invest in a Gooseneck to haul several Cubs around. Our 30' trailor will haul 4 to 5 cubs easily but I know I can fit more.
Nice new truck, I am sure you'll love it.

Re: Hauling two Cubs…
That is a beauty! A good friend of mine bought a GMC 3/4 Tonner, 4x4 with the same engine/trans combo. I will tell you that I have been totally impressed with the torque that truck can make when pulling a large truck out of the mud with a stuck wheel brake on it! That sold me on the combo, just need the funds for one for myself now! Best of luck to you on the new rig, too. Steve K.
