Working on the project 58 cub again...getting her ready for the first coat of primer..while wire wheeling the steering support. Got down close to bare metal when I noticed YOUNGSTOWN YC cast into the support.
Just thought this was interesting...never noticed that anywhere else before..Tom

I got the cub in Bowie, Maryland..He talked of it being part of the Family...really didn't ask for how long...wish I did now...

Can't help but wonder if the steering support has a manufacturer's mark in it. They just happened to get the end of the pipe that had the manufacturer's mark on it when they made your steering support.

The ID tag is very interesting.

That's really cool. Thats the thing with these machines, You never know how many hands have been on them. It's nice to see another MD member. There were a lot of cubs in this area to tend to the Tobacco. Mine has lived its life in pretty small area (Davidsonville) its whole life.

I have seen the steering post with youngstown on it a lot over the years. The pipe for the post was made at Youngstown sheet & tube back in the day. Youngstown ohio. The tag was probabley installed by the original owner. Probabley a business of some kind.

All of my sister's in-laws worked at Youngstown Sheet & Tube back in the day. Her husband worked there on summer breaks in college and her father in law worked there 30 or 40 years. I can remember going to Youngstown in the '70s for visits. It is a completely different town now. They still have Elmton Pizza, Handel's Ice Cream & Carchedi's Kind of neat to have a round about family tie to making Cubs.
