impliment prices
Hi all, We are getting our 1947 cub (# 636) ready PIMA COUNTY FAIR in Tuscon AZ and have been asked to have signs with the Sales price for the equipment
I know the tractor was around $545 but is there a price listing for the impilments when they were sold new in 47?
We have 195 plow, disk, cultervator, cycle bar mower and the grader blade.
Any information would be helpful
Thanks Frank

Re: impliment prices
I cannot be specific, but I have my father-in-laws 1949 cub that he purchased new in Edmeston, NY in '49. Total cost for the cub (with hydraulics, lights, and the changeover distributor kit) plus sickle bar mower, land plow, rear lift spring tooth harrow, manure spreader (small, he was a chicken farmer) belt pulley, and both drawbars was $900. He used the set (used up the manure spreader--chicken manure is extremely corrosive--until 1983 and then sold it all to me for $2000. Obviously not a 47 and no individual prices but this gives you an idea of what they sold for. We, today, may think these prices as cheap, but in today's dollars, his cost would be well in excess of $18,000.

I forgot the snowplow and chains. As I said above, I have it all except the manure spreader.

Re: impliment prices
I have the original bill of sale around here somewhere for our '63 (again not '47) and the total was about $1600 if I remember correctly.
Farmall Cub with deluxe seat, touch control, lights, wheel weights
Woods 42 mower
23 A disc
Plow
Cultivators
You could put $75 or $100 on most of the implements and not be far off on their original price.

Re: impliment prices
Here are a couple of September 25, 1947 invoices that may be of some help. As you noted $545 for the Cub, $97.75 for the disk and $40 for the plow.

Bill, I figured you would post that sooner or later. I'd love to find those front weights at that price.

Aren't we looking at dealer cost on this, not retail? Interesting that there's tax at the wholesale level.

No, Bob. Those are the invoices for the retail sale to the farmer. Pics of the Cub in its workin' clothes.

Re: impliment prices
I'm not a guy to nit-pick, but it reads like an order going from a dealer to IH. Maybe this is what the customer saw, when he put in the order, and the IH dealer contract must have spelled out the dealer's costs/markup.

Bought a new 100 blade in 1973 for $175.00. Three times that would not buy it now.

And still wearing those same clothes at CI Cubfest 64 years later.
